Sometimes you have to look deep inside to see what’s going on outside.
That’s the case with iSuppli’s latest report, which predicts booming sales for semiconductor suppliers based on increased shipments of digital televisions (DTVs). DTV shipments will more than triple over the next three years, the market analyst reports.
The Global DTV semiconductor market revenue will rise to $14.2 billion in 2011 from $7.1 billion in 2006. Total semiconductor revenue includes the chips on DTV audio/video boards and other segments of the televisions, including the input/output circuitry, the drivers, audio and the power supply. It also also voltage regulators, LCD drivers, backlight inverters, Plasma Display Panel (PDP) drivers and the Digital Light Processing (DLP), LCD and Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) chips for Rear-Projection Televisions (RPTVs).
