The display market is expected to top $100 billion in revenue this year, said Paul Semenza vice president of display research for market analyst iSuppli.
Driven by strong demand for TFT-LCD screens, the market for flat-panel, projection and CRT products will hit $104.3 billion in revenue in 2007, up eight percent from $96.5 billion in 2006, Semenza said during the Information Display 2007 International Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition last Tuesday in Long Beach, Calif.
Televisions, notebook PCs, desktop monitors and mobile phones are the four major applications that make up the market, Semenza said, noting that TFT-LCD production will reach about 2.5 billion units in 2011, up from 1.2 billion in 2006. The television market is driving some of the fastest growth in TFT-LCD production. LCD’s, he added, will account for 65 percent of all TV displays in 2011, up from 11 percent in 2007.
