Dealer Data: DVR Use Up, Especially Among Young
More than a fifth of U.S. households now possess a digital video recorder, up from a mere two percent two years ago- and in the covered 18-to-34-year-old demographic, 56 percent of users use such technology to follow TV series. That’s according to a survey released this week by Nielsen Media Research, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.
According to the survey, 22 percent of U.S. households have a DVR, a number that is quickly climbing. Also, a full quarter of adults say they have watched a full TV episode through streaming video in the last three months, a number that jumps to 39 percent among 18-to-34-year-olds.
Nielsen has responded to the rising popularity of DVRs by adjusting its ratings samples to reflect that number of DVR households.
