The entry-level has it. Quixel Research recently released numbers on the front projector market for Q3 2006 and found that entry-level models are driving the category. According to the research firm, volumes for the 480p segment climbed 77 percent from Q2 2006 to Q3 2006 and 35 percent year-to-year, while revenues for the 480p segment topped $22M in Q3 2006 or up 65 percent from Q2 2006 sales of $13M. Popular were models that incorporated built-in DVD players.
Additionally Quixel found that year-to-year sales were up in this category, growing 11 percent. This was attributed to strong LCD/HTPS sales and a unit volume increase of almost 30 percent from Q2 2006 to Q3 2006 and 14 percent from Q3 2005 to Q3 2006. The firm projects that the total Front Projector market will accelerate, with unit sales reaching up to 700,000 by 2009.
