The research firm iSuppli Corp. on Tuesday raised its forecast for the large-sized LCD panel market, citing rising demand, tightening supply, and increasing prices. iSuppli now believes global revenue will raise to $66 billion this year for the large-panel LCD market, up from $54 billion in 2006 and from the earlier forecast of $62 billion.
The firm defines “large panel” as any LCD TV with a diagonal size of 10 inches or larger.
iSuppli’s earlier forecast that 350.1 million units would be shipped this year was revised upwards to 353.8 million, a huge gain over last year’s figure of 282.5 million. And the gains are expected to continue, jumping to 597.6 million units by 2011.
