Dealer Data: PCs Gain Acceptance as New Video Player
In its new study, Digital Content Unleashed, ABI Research found that nearly 50 percent of U.S. consumers are watching some form of video on their PCs. It may come as a surprise that video content delivered through a browser outranks DVDs as the most popular form of video. But 72 percent watch some form of video through their browsers, while nearly 65 percent watch DVDs on their PCs. Perhaps not so surprising is that 7.1 percent are watching pay TV delivered over carrier networks on their PCs. This is perhaps a sign that, while some efforts such as Microsoft’s Media Center PC have seen wider adoption over the past few years - those who are actually using a TV tuner to watch and record TV on these PCs is still fairly low.
