Dealer Data: Touchscreen Shipments Set to Skyrocket
Apple’s iPhone and other devices like it are about to cause an explosion in sales of touch-screen display devices, with sales of them expected to more than double between this year and 2012. That’s according to a report Monday from iSuppli Corp.
The research firm found that the market for such devices is expected to grow from a 2008 total of 341 million units and $3.4 billion in value to a 2013 total of 833 million units and $6.5 billion in value. The gains are due to demand created by the cache of the iPhone and other devices, as well as costs that are expected to drop.
The numbers were projected as part of iSuppli’s Emerging Displays Research, and can be read in full here.
