Dealer Data: Women Embrace Smart Phones
As the new iPhone arrives and smart phones become a larger and larger part of the overall telecom market, demand is growing especially strong among women. According to Nielsen Mobile figures cited by the New York Times, the number of women using smart phones has more than doubled, to over 10 million, in the last year, a number that outstrips the gains among men.
With the iPhone specifically, the study said, the percentage of iPhone users among women jumped from 1-in-4 to 1-in-3 between October and March, a shift that researchers expect to accelerate even more with the introduction of the new iPhone, which features faster speeds and advanced GPS capability.
