Short term, NATM Buying Corp. Executive Director Bill Trawick expects Whirlpool to stay focused on its own launch of new laundry products.
Billed as the largest laundry launch in Whirlpool’s history, at press time the roll out calls for Whirlpool’s new top-load Duet Sport laundry pair to be fully distributed by the end of April, updated versions of Whirlpool’s classic top load washers and drivers are to begin shipping in late May, and the new Cabrio high-efficiency top-load washer with glass lid to roll out in July with full distribution by early August. Whirlpool also was to announce additional products for the line launch after press time, at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, April 20-23, in Chicago.
“I can’t see any changes happening in Maytag laundry until possibly the back end of the year,” Trawick says. “Then I do think they will reposition Maytag. I can’t believe they will want to keep Maytag playing down in the lower end where they have their Whirlpool brand.”
