The regional retailers who Dealerscope polled as part of our latest December roundtable provided a somewhat upbeat report on how consumers are embracing 4K and Ultra HD, as well as other new products. But they said customers remained confused about most of the terminology being used to describe new 4K TVs – or have still never even heard those terms before entering the store.
Meanwhile, competing against online retailers continues to provide a major challenge. That’s especially the case when it comes to the many largely unknown third-party sellers hawking products on the Amazon Marketplace and other websites, the regional dealers told us. Other challenges include continued TV price compression and inventory shortages caused by issues including shipping delays.
