Name: Steve Weber
Job Title: SEO & Analytics Specialist
Company: World Wide Stereo
Years in the Industry: 5
Major Accomplishments that you’re proud of: I am most proud of our traffic growth in organic search on https://www.worldwidestereo.com/. Year over year we are up 500 percent in relevant site traffic and it has lead to doubling our revenue number from the channel.
What do you like best about your job?: I love that I get to combine the nerdiness of search engine marketing with my love for music. On a daily basis I get to work with a team of marketers who share my combined passion for working on the web and with music.
What do you like least about your job?: That I cannot own every new product that I hear about.
Favorite hobby: I have a split love for snowboarding and running.
Last book you read: "But Not Broken" it is an upcoming fiction novel by my wife, Tracy Weber. She let me read an early draft of it. Please keep an eye out for it.
Who is your hero and why?: It is my mother. Nearly every weekend she volunteers her time to cook for a group of homeless men in area. Her compassion for total strangers inspires me. It is a reminder that kindness starts with us and that our actions can make the world a better place for others.
Favorite consumer tech device: Lately it is the Focal Spark wireless in ear headphones. I added some fin tips to them so I can run without having them fall out. They have been fantastic to run with.
What you’d be doing if you weren’t in tech: I honestly do not know. In another career life I was a stockbroker, and it just didn't feel right.
What’s the biggest problem the industry faces today, and how would you fix it?: Amazon is not going away. It would be great if they offered up a seller central interface that offered real time metrics and machine learning recommendations. All of us would spend more and reap the benefits.
What’s your outlook for the CE industry for the next five years?: The machine learning paired with 5G is going to give faster optics into how consumers want to interact with us. As marketers, we will be able to know if we are off course so we can correct with as little wasted effort or ad spend as possible. As consumer, we are bound to get some really neat tech to play with.
