By David Dritsas
DVD-Audio is ready to hit the market. Despite setbacks created by the formulation of copy protection specifications to please the recording industry, the final copy protection framework is near completion and manufacturers will begin releasing product this month. Meanwhile, music labels are ready to release the all-important content.
Manufacturers began to disclose shipping dates after a draft protection frame work was issued early in June by 4C Entity, LLC, a joint venture made up of IBM, Intel, Matsushita Electric and Toshiba. The 4C Entity is a licensor of copy protection for the recordable and prerecorded DVD-Audio medium.
