Dell Taking Another Run at Music
Dell has announced its intention to re-enter the portable music player business, the Wall Street Journal reported this week, citing company executives. The new player has been testing for several months and may arrive as soon as September, the Journal said.
Dell had earlier been in the music player business between 2003 and 2006, but shuttered the division after its players failed to claim enough market share from Apple’s iPod series.
According to the Journal report, the new player would likely arrive along with an online subscription service. The player, which does not yet have a name, would likely play movies as well.
