Android Gains Support
Despite a slow start, Google's Android operating system is beginning to gain in popularity, with worldwide sales of devices featuring Android expected to jump tenfold this year. That's according to the research firm Strategy Analytics, as cited by Reuters.
The first phone featuring Android, T-Mobile's G1, debuted in the U.S. last year, with many more to come, from Samsung and other manufacturers, later this year.
"Android has fast been winning healthy support among operators, vendors and developers," Strategic Analytics' senior analyst Tom Kang said as part of the announcement. "Android is now in a good position to become a top-tier player in smart phones over the next two to three years,"
