D&H Distributing Announces Move After 80 Years
Due to a lack of space and a desire to modernize the workplace, D&H Distributing announced the relocation of its Harrisburg headquarters to a neighboring suburb in Lower Paxton Township.
The new location boasts about 50 acres of land, two buildings, and 950 parking spaces. With more than double the square footage of their Seventh Street location, the newly acquired Amp Drive campus will create more room for growth within the company and space for various amenities. Some of the ideas currently in the works are a larger cafe, a full-service cafeteria, a walking path, outdoor seating, game rooms, and an office space for D&H’s vendors.
“This property aligns perfectly with D&H’s goals as a thriving, expanding, technology-focused organization in the Harrisburg region,” Co-President Dan Schwab told Penn Live. “We’re committed to staying local to Harrisburg to ensure minimal displacement of our co-owners, and wanted to guarantee the cost effectiveness of our long-term investments as opposed to renovating for the short-term. The Amp Drive campus provides adequate space for continued expansion, future-proofing the D&H corporate headquarters for decades to come."
D&H Distributing is one of the oldest and largest privately owned companies in Pennsylvania serving small and medium sized businesses. Last year, D&H celebrated 100 years in operation and reported a revenue increase of 21 percent. Schwab attributes much of that success to the company’s loyal customers.
“We're lucky to have such great partners. We've enjoyed tremendous growth. We grew from a couple hundred million-dollar company to, this year we'll be over $4 billion in revenue. We're almost in the Top 100 of the Forbes private companies in the United States. And we're awed by that. And we're lucky to have such incredible co-owners that deliver that but we couldn't have done it without our customers,” Schwab told Dealerscope in an interview last October.
The transition into the new headquarters is expected to occur sometime between September of this year and March 2020. In the meantime, D&H is looking to hire about 30 additional employees to help meet the growing demands throughout the company.
