ProAV solutions are nothing new out of D&H Distributing. The Harrisburg, PA-based distributor of SMB and consumer technologies to the North American high tech channel has dabbled in the digital signage space and has a vendor roster that includes some of the top names in ProAV. But the company announced a major expansion of those efforts this week that includes the launch of a whole host of new services, and the hiring of an industry veteran to lead the charge.
In addition to its longstanding commitment to provide its customers with access to a broad range of ProAV hardware and applications, D&H said it will now also offer a number of new services including content creation, cloud-based services, and installation services that support a variety of verticals. This is on top of the support the distributor provides in the creation and sale of digital signage, unified communication, collaboration video walls, and other AV solutions.
D&H said that this assortment of solutions, which falls under its Solutions and Services program, is intended to give its integrator and solution provider customers the ability to take on projects that include signage, interactive touch displays, LED and LCD video wall configurations, huddle rooms, projection-mapping, and more. To support its expansion in this space, D&H invested in the establishment of a dedicated team of certified specialists that carry InfoComm CTS and other industry certifications from a variety of D&H vendors.
28-year industry veteran Peter Hurley, who joins D&H in the newly created role of Director – ProAV Business Unit, will head the new ProAV Solutions Team. Hurley brings to the table a wealth of knowledge and experience that has spanned nearly three decades at companies like Stampede Presentation Products, Cable & Wireless, Sharp Electronics, and Unisys Federal.
“What we’re classifying as ProAV goes well beyond hardware sales of digital signage or projector products,” Hurley said in a statement. “As the marketplace continues its digital transformation, ProAV has begun to extend to vital new areas, becoming a more critical component of the greater ecosystem that supports modern commercial environments. This will allow our customers to impact and close a greater number of ProAV, end-point, networking, and collaboration projects.”
The commitment to expanding its ProAV suite of solutions comes as D&H recognizes the importance for integrators to be able to offer customizable content to their clients.
“Contemporary businesses are becoming increasingly digital in how they implement their procedures, disseminate their messages, and interact both internally and with the public. Integrators and solution providers come into these environments with varying levels of proficiency in digital signage, audio, and unified communications,” Peter DiMarco, vice president of VAR sales at D&H, who oversees the Solutions & Services initiative, said in the statement. “Some VARs have greater strengths in networking, some in telecom, and some in audio visual. We’ve built a structured set of resources to guide our customers no matter what their core skills are. We’re excited to have Peter Hurley on board to spearhead this business, supporting our customers as they explore these new opportunities.”
D&H will showcase its expanding ProAV offerings during its upcoming 2019 Technology Conference: West Coast event on March 28 in City of Industry, California. ProAV will also be a major focus of the distributor’s upcoming “Solutions Roadshow” series of trainings, which kicks off this month and will run through November.
