D&H Distributing, the leading North American computer products and consumer electronics distributor, announces it has seen category growth of 50% and higher in several key categories—despite the uninspiring performance of the general distribution market this year. D&H reports sales gains of 77% in IoT solutions (e.g., smart home and Wi-Fi- or Bluetooth-connected products); 52% in 3D printing solutions; and 31% in televisions, including streaming models. The distributor has also seen double-digit increases in categories such as floor care products, notebook computers, fitness and exercise devices, and cell phones.
While much of the distribution industry has been slow to grow this year, D&H is investing in the programs, personnel, and technologies its customers require to maintain an edge in this competitive market. The distributor is looking toward developments such as smart home automation, and innovations such as home media hubs and augmented reality products, to drive the landscape forward. Consumers are looking to build infrastructures that will help them manage their connected home devices, imagining a future that offers a seamless, unified and automated home/entertainment environment.
“As the industry moves toward more cloud- and WiFi-connected infrastructures and solutions, D&H is constantly monitoring and forecasting these developments, to give our customers an advantage selling into this new automated environment,” said Dan Schwab, co-president at D&H Distributing. “That can mean anything from negotiating relationships with manufacturers in emerging categories, to facilitating product demos of these technologies on behalf of our vendors. We look forward to a successful 2017, when we will continue to address the changing needs of our customers in this exciting industry.”
