Digeo, the company behind the Moxi high definition DVR set top boxes now deployed through eight cable providers, is set to launch two new retail-ready models. The first box will be a multi stream CableCARD-enabled set-top with a built-in DVD/CD player with HDMI and upscaling and multi room capabilities. The second box will be a high definition digital media receiver based on Linux and using the new AMD LIVE Home Cinema Reference Design. Digeo CEO Mike Fidler said the DMR will be for single-room use only and include a DVD/CD player and ATSC and clear QAM tuners, no CableCARD. A built-in 5.1 D2 amplifier will allow it to be connected to speakers without a separate surround sound receiver. An IP connection will allow remote Web scheduling. Both units will include the Moxi interface for navigating and playing back content. The products are planned for a late Q3 or Q4 rollout through specialty distribution.
