Digital Photo Processing Gains Acceptance
Print@Kodak service is available through kodak.com and the numerous Kodak partners, including cvs.com (the first retailer to offer the co-branded Kodak Picture Center) and photo-sharing services ememories.com, MyFamily.com, PicServe.com, PhotoAccess.com, PicturePrepClub.com, Snapfish.com, PhotoPoint.com and Storybox.com. On cvs.com, Kodak said, it will cost $8.99 to process and print a 24-exposure, 35mm roll of film and upload them onto cvs.com's Kodak Picture Center Online.
Kodak also announced last month plans to offer the co-branded photofinishing services through Print@Kodak for about 600 Circuit City locations. The co-branded Print@Kodak Extra Value/Starter CD allows consumers to order prints and create and print picture albums through access to a co-branded Web site, www.kodak.com/go/circuitcity. The CD is free and available right now at Circuit City.
Web-based photofinishing services are important to the acceptance of digital cameras, said Sony's Malcolm, but so is the increasing number of the self-serve kiosks at the retailers', where consumers can print their images directly from the various memory media, including Sony's Memory Stick.
