DISH Appoints Kannan Alagappan to CTO
DISH Network has appointed Kannan Alagappan as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. Within this new role, Alagappan will lead DISH Technologies, oversee DISH’s software and hardware engineering initiatives, and manage the organization’s broadcast and satellite operations.

Alagappan has an impressive resume consisting of various leadership roles with major technology companies. In fact, he served as CTO and Head of Technology in his most recent role with Australian telecommunications leader, Telstra. There he was responsible for overseeing the creation of high-performing software engineering centers across the globe. His efforts shifted Telstra’s approach to product development and software engineering.
Before joining Telstra, Alagappan acted as Vice President, Strategy and Transformation Services of cloud-computing leader Rackspace Hosting. He managed a world-class team of engineers that helped several enterprises adopt and migrate to the cloud, and also adopt Agile, DevOps and SRE software engineering practices.
Building up to the major roles he held, Alagappan worked as a technology consultant at various Fortune 500 companies including Comcast, T-Mobile and even DISH. He holds a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Annamalai University in Tamil Nadu, India.
