Dish Invests in Qualcomm Satellite Chipset
Dish Network announced Monday that it has collaborated with Qualcomm to develop a broadband satellite chipset for mobile devices.
The chipsets, the company said, will be used in future Dish mobile devices.
"For DISH to be competitive in the wireless broadband space, it is critical that we are able to offer terrestrial broadband services to consumers," Tom Cullen, DISH's executive vice president, said as part of the announcement. "In addition, we see opportunities to serve specialized markets across the nation with satellite communications capability."
