A major entertainment company is preparing a system that will allow for consumers to purchase, essentially, lifetime multi-device access to a movie or TV show. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Walt Disney Co. developed the technology, which it calls Keychest, and is demonstrating it both to other studios and technology companies.
Keychest will be officially unveiled next month, the report said.
The technology would allow a user to buy a movie and have permanent access to it on their TV, computer, mobile device, and more. The concept would utilize cloud computing, so as not to force customers to find physical space for the content.
