Samsung Grabs Flat-Panel Lead
Samsung has taken back the lead in LCD TV and total flat panel market share, overtaking Vizio and Sony, according to a pair of reports released this week.
According to the Global TV Shipment and Forecast Report from DisplaySearch, Samsung now holds 13.4 percent of the North American flat panel market, followed by Vizio with 12.2 percent and Sony with 11.2 percent. LGE and Sharp round out the top five, with “other” taking more than 46 percent of the market.
For LCDs, Samsung, Sony and Vizio were within percentage points of each other, with Samsung taking the lead with 12.8 percent. And on the plasma side, Panasonic led once again with 32.8 percent, followed by LGE and Samsung.
