DJI Unveils its Phantom 4 Camera Drone
DJI started taking pre-orders March 1 on its own web site and on Apple.com for its newest drone: the Phantom 4 camera drone ($1,399.95), which will reach Apple Retail Stores around the world March 15, followed by wider distribution April 1.
According to Michael Perry, director of strategic partnerships, who presented it at a press event in New York City, Phantom 4 is unique in many respects. The Phantom 4’s design includes multiple refinements that improve upon the quadcopter form in facilitating better aerial imaging and image capture.
It boasts six sensors altogether, including twin visual sensors that enable it to avoid hitting into objects autonomously. Its simplified flight controls include a pause button located on the controller, which has a maximum transmission distance of up to 3.1 miles.
