Documentary Looks at "Last Independent Dealer"
A new documentary film project is attempting a search for the "last independent dealer" of TVs. The movie is called "TV Man: The Search for the Last Independent Dealer."
In a trailer posted online for the movie, director Steve Kosareff looks back wistfully at the days of mom-and-pop TV dealers, interviewing four TV dealers throughout the Midwest to talk about their experiences selling TVs, especially in the heyday of the 1950s and '60s, leading into the decline of domestic TV manufacturing and the rise of big box stores.
Kosareff is the author of a book called “Window to the Future: The Golden Age of Marketing and Advertising Television." See the trailer of the movie below:
