Drill Down Go Beyond TV
UltimateTV offers two very compelling features: hard disk recording and Internet access. For most people, the recording aspect will be the clincher, especially because of the two tuners. With two tuners you can record two programs that air at the same time, watch one program while recording another or watch one recorded program while recording two others. The hard drive provides about 35 hours of recording time.
The on-screen program guide and menus make recording and navigation simple. The easiest way to record a show is to highlight it on the on-screen guide, and press the Record button. The guide gives you 14 days of program listings, so searching through the guide for programs that won't air for a few days can be time-consuming. For that, you press the TV Home button, then click on the Search icon to go to a search screen. You can search by title using the wireless keyboard or search by category.
Aside from recording entire programs, the hard drive allows you to pause programs you're currently watching. If the phone rings, press the Pause button, go answer the phone, then come back and press Play to resume the program. This simple feature is my favorite of hard disk recorders. It's also great for instant replays.
