As we get deeper into the warmer months of the year, confidence among CE retailers continues to slide in the wrong direction. For the second month in a row the Dealerscope CE Retail Confidence Index showed a drop in overall retailer confidence. After flirting with an all-time low last month, the June report crashed through the floor and hit both a year-long low and an all-time low of 182.96.
Retailers who participated in the survey identified some of the same ol’ causes for the lack of confidence: political climate, uncertainty over consumer spending, slowing traffic.
“Economic uncertainty seems to have slowed the market a bit,” said one retailer. “I also worry about price competition eroding margins.”
