He noted that many pro-active DSI dealers had heeded president and CEO Doug Robison’s call last year to develop connected salesfloors. “Connected TV is certainly a more compelling proposition today than it had been. As with anything else, the better retailers took advantage of our connectivity kits and of our other helps in that regard.”
Echoing Satoren’s enthusiasm about the independent’s unique positioning to sell ultra-large-screens was Dave Robison, former CEO and current DSI board member. “Amazon doesn’t do a damn in 40-inch-and above,” he told dealers. “That main TV in the house is ours, if we get our minds right. New technologies, delivery, installation – that’s ours; that doesn’t belong to the Internet.
“America is still the best place in the world to own a small business, and there has never been a better time to be an independent dealer than 2012.”
