Dual is back at Retail, Under New Brand Owners
By David Dritsas
April 8th, 2003 — Audio products with the Dual Audio brand name will be hitting retail shelves this week. The formerly German-owned brand name is being used by the newly formed Namsung America, Inc., a Nansung Corporation of Korea subsidiary that was formed in January by former Recoton executives.
The new company will enter the market with lower priced home and mobile electronics audio products, with 12V head units, speakers and amplifiers shipping at the end of this week and home speakers shipping in May. The company is led by a management team of Jim Braun, Namsung America president and CEO, Clyde Podraza, executive vice president, marketing and sales and Matt Vinson, senior vice president of product planning and procurement — all are former executives of Recoton Audio Corporation. The company is using Nansung in Korea, an OEM for Daimler-Chrysler and Citrogen, for the manufacturing of most of its head units and outsources other products to independent companies, said Braun, but that they will have full control of design, development and quality control.
