J&R Music and Computerworld's web site, www.JandR.com, looks like one of its famous, strategically placed newspaper advertisements.
The site is a patchwork of product offers, accented with easy-to-view product photos. The retail prices are prominent, but then so are the product features. And what you see is diversityit's hard not to look at the page and not really want at least one item, more likely about five.
"The way we look at our web site," Abe Brown, J&R's advertising and marketing coordinator, said, "is that it's an extension of the mail-order business."
