Attitudes: Reasons for Hope
Content always drives new TV technologies, but it only goes as far as the quality of the full experience. From what we saw at CES (and most everyone agreed), the quality of the new 3D TV packages is miles ahead of earlier generations, and will continue to improve.
Of course the pundits raise doubts about what type of programming consumers will want to watch in 3D, whether they'll want to wear the glasses, and so on. That's missing the point. It's not an everyday thing, nor should it be. It's about creating a personal event by taking the time to sit with family and friends to watch the new blockbuster or the big game on 3D TV. It's all about wearing the glasses, being captured by the stunning picture quality, cranking up the high-end audio and experiencing something that's special, extraordinary and enjoyed right in the living room.
