EchoStar to Become DishNetwork
The satellite provider EchoStar is reportedly planning to change its name to that of its most prominent product, DishNetwork.
BusinessWeek reported that the name change will come in conjunction in a split of the company into two entities: EchoStar, which will focus on the satellite broadcast business, and EchoStar Holding Co., which will concern its other businesses, including Sling Media. EchoStar bought the maker of the Slingbox earlier this year for $380 million.
Charlie Ergen will remain CEO of both companies.
