Not long ago, we had our hands on one of the most powerful mobile charging stations that’s ever been created for consumers. The EcoFlow RIVER is a product that boasted north of 110,000 mAh and could charge products for days on end. One of the biggest gripes we had with the RIVER, though, was the lack of portability. Sure, you could take it in the car with you, out on a boat, or somewhere where you didn’t have to put it in a bag and try to lug the thing around.
EcoFlow must’ve heard similar feedback from elsewhere, because the company was quick to launch a new version of the RIVER—called the RIVER Bank—that has additional portability in mind. The product, announced this week, packs a lot of the same features as the river, and even adds a few new wrinkles to the mix. The product is available for preorder now on Indiegogo.
For starters, the design of the RIVER Bank is what’s most noticeably different than its predecessor. It’s a modular product that has sub-modules that can be swapped out for different use cases. There’s an AC Module and a Car Module, for example, which allow energy to flow through the different units for combined power capacity. The modules and the actual product itself resemble something like the original Apple TV unit when it was first launched—kind of that rounded edge, slice of bread shape that’s a little bigger than one’s hand.
