Nothing in the last several months has made a better statement for changing the status quo than the recent election of Scott Brown to the Senate in Massachusetts. Along the same lines, I have been trying in so many ways to convince you the past year that we must change how we go to market in the car stereo business, and now perhaps I should lay it out again for your consideration.
Over the next few weeks I will present what I believe to be the top 10 things the car audio industry should do in order to “turn the ship around.”
The 12-volt industry is in most difficult straits and to simply continue running business as usual is nothing but folly. Simple awareness of the industry is at the lowest I have ever seen. When asked to name a car stereo brand, an overwhelming majority cannot name Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood or Alpine, let alone any other brand. Even aided awareness shouts a cry for help like that of a hungry newborn crying for its mother’s milk.
