Could CE Survive Without Apple?
While attending the recent CEA forum in San Francisco, I found myself in a room full of smart people who were listening to other smart people presenting what they know to be the “hot sellers” for the 2010 Holiday Season.
I have to admit that my mind did tend to wander from time to time during these breakout meetings, as I kept wondering if my car, which was tucked safely in the hotel’s garage at a paltry $56 per night, was actually experiencing a better hotel stay than I was. I can remember back in the day, when I could stay in a hotel for about the same rate they charge me today to park my car – and that even included a continental breakfast!
However, back to the smart people the room. During this particular session, we were advised that sales in consumer electronics were projected to increase approximately 5 percent over last year’s sales. This comes even after the estimates of other smart people, not present, who had predicted an increase of only around 2.5 percent. But the absolute best question of the entire conference for me, happened to be asked during this particular breakout session.
