Going the Way of the Dinosaurs
The other day my youngest son, the computer genius, was asking me questions about his car's performance. Perhaps they were not questions, but more like, "Dad, when you're driving your car, do you sometimes find it hard to turn?"
I admit I thought about telling him about the time the police woke me up in a car that had somehow parked itself on someone's front lawn while returning home from a friends' wedding party. I then quickly decided that this should forever remain a secret. I was young and stupid and felt no reason to give my 18-year-old son any additional ammunition.
What the questioning came down to, as you may have guessed, was that something was not right with his car and it needed some looking into. We went outside and opened the hood. Power steering fluid, or lack thereof, was the culprit. Once tended to, the vehicle was able to turn in the direction intended by its driver.
