Best Buy's Canadian Lessons
Eight years after it entered Canada for the first time, Best Buy is hoping to apply lessons learned north of the border to its domestic business. That's according to an interview given by incoming CEO Brian Dunn to the Toronto Globe and Mail this week.
The chain, which took over the Future Shop Ltd. brand in 2001, has run stores in Canada under both the Future Shop and Best Buy names- leading Dunn to conclude that he could see Best Buy running multiple brands at once, especially online. The company is planning to do a similar thing in Britain where, as part of its partnership with Carphone Warehouse, it will run stores under both names.
Dunn is set to take over as CEO from the retiring Brad Anderson this June.
