Elliptic Labs Introduces Ultrasound-Based User Interface for IoT Devices
With the rapid rise in the number of connected devices, Elliptic Labs—a self described innovator in the ultrasound space—has developed a technology that promises to change the way that consumers interact with their Internet of Things (IoT) devices. The company’s new EASY IoT software, introduced at Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona on Tuesday, lets the user turn devices on and off, and control them in other ways, through simple hand gestures.
Elliptic Labs said the new technology can be used with a range of IoT devices including smart thermostats, kitchen appliances, lighting controls, and security cameras, among others. The company will be offering its EASY IoT technology to mobile OEMs for inclusion in their products.
“By working closely with mobile OEMs and their IoT innovation departments, we enables consumers to easier connect, control, and interact with IoT devices," Laila Danielsen, CEO of Elliptic Labs, said in a statement. "Ultrasound is such a versatile yet robust technology that creating solutions for home use, as we are demoing today, is just the beginning.”
