Vendor Profile: Toshiba Touts the Upsell
For a display company that came late to the flat-panel market, Toshiba has made up ground with surprising speed.
Take it from Jim O’Neil, vice president of merchandising for the New Jersey-based regional chain Electronics Expo. “They were probably one of the last holdouts in tubes and were also involved in DLP,” he said. “But they’ve definitely made some major strides in the last year, and are firmly established now with good features and good value for the price.”
Electronics Expo carries the regular Toshiba LCD line and the high-end REGZA series. As a retailer with a focus on higher-end and step-up products, REGZA is Expo’s main Toshiba line. “We can sell more audio and custom installation off it,” O’Neil said.
