Attitudes: Enough Already
I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of bad economic news. TV, newspapers and Web sites have been overrun with Wall Street reports and analyst ruminations. I get it already, the economy is bad, people are suffering and both dealers and manufacturers are feeling the pinch.
Let’s give that a rest for the time being and remember what and who we work so hard for. This time of year, especially this year, it’s too easy to get caught up in the news and numbers. I prefer to focus on my family and friends, enjoying the very special times with them, their company and conversations. At home there are dinners to share and people to toast with, and that doesn’t change with the Dow.
I remember past economic slumps. They came, left their mark, and moved on. A recession is like a test. If you pass, you move on to the next level and learn a lot from it. These times can teach us to be more efficient, creative, resourceful, cautious and humble. As our industry gets though this, it also improves. So pay attention, learn from mistakes, and learn to appreciate what you have.
