Epson recently unveiled their newest MovieMate projector and PictureMate printers. The MovieMate 30 combines a projector, DVD player and music player into one $999 package available in October. It features a VGA input and adapter cable to support high definition cable, satellite receivers and off-air HDTV tuners. The MovieMate uses Epson’s 3LCD technology, making use of three separate LCD chips to produce a 480p native resolution picture. The 1.5x optical zoom lens allows for short-throw viewing, producing an 80-inch widescreen image from 6.6 feet up to a 12-foot image from 12 feet. Its brightness goes up to 1,200 ANSI.
Epson is also making available the Accolade Duet Ultra Portable Projection Screen for $249, though some retailers will bundle it with the projector. The screen can expand to 16:9 from 4:3 and can produce an 80-inch diagonal image. It collapses into a 42-inch long one-piece for transport.
In addition to the screen, some retailers will also bundle a 40-watt subwoofer, which separately will run for $89.
