Epson Launches Sub-$3,000 1080P Projector
Epson at 2008 CES unveiled a new projector that delivers 1080p (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) resolution and 50,000:1 contrast ratios. The PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 UB uses a 3LCD optical engine based on the D7 chip set with C²Fine and UltraBlack technology. The unit will sell through brick-and-mortar and online retails and is aimed at the DIY home entertainment market.
PowerLite Home Cinema 1080 UB can display sizes up to 120 inches. Epson is now offering a $200 mail-in rebate with the model, bringing the cost down to $2,799.
Key features include 12-bit processing for vivid images; two HDMI 1.3 inputs for high definition video formats including “future-ready” x.v.Color with extended color gamut, lens shift of 96-degree vertical and 47-degree horizonta, and an OptiCinema lens system.
