Escient to Release Vision Line
After announcing the product at CEDIA Expo in the fall, Escient confirmed Thursday that it will begin shipping in February its Vision Series line, with a new content-importing solution that uses the front-panel drive to import content directly to the series’ hard drives.
“When we announced the product at CEDIA,” explains Escient’s general manager, Bill Carson, “when we talked about how the consumer gets the movie content onto Vision, our story was that they moved the movies that had been previously recorded to their PC over the home network and dropped them onto the Vision hard-drive system. But it’s all about ease of use for the consumer, so what we’ve worked diligently to do is, rather than
release the product with that type of solution, we’re now enabling the consumer to insert the media into the front-panel drive of the Vision and import it directly to the hard drive. That’s a key ease-of-use feature that we’re announcing at this point. That’s what we’re telling our network of over 700 direct dealers and all our distribution partners today, and so far, the response has been overwhelming.”
