Europe's Saturn Provides an Out-of-this-World Retail Experience
During a recent overseas work trip to Berlin, I found some time to myself and decided to walk some of the conference calories off with a visit to a nearby mall. It was my luck that the mall happened to have in it a massive consumer electronics retail location that had a very familiar, but oh-so different feel to it.
Walking through the aisles of Saturn, it’s clear that the European CE retail giant takes a lot of cues from, say, Best Buy on this side of the pond. But everything about the customer experience was unlike a typical trip to a consumer electronics location in the U.S.
The Saturn team was quick to approach me and ask if I needed assistance or a demo in their particular section of the store. Product was very much accessible and out in the open for me to get hands-on with. And the wide range of categories on display—they had a massive gaming area, for example—was unlike anything I’ve ever seen.
