Facebook and Twitter Join the Consumer Technology Association
The Consumer Technology Association is getting a little more social—not to say that they weren’t already! But the organization added two of the most prominent and used social networks to their membership: Facebook and Twitter. CTA represents more than 2,200 companies in the U.S. consumer technology industry.
"Facebook and Twitter are great American companies that have fundamentally revolutionized how we communicate," Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of CTA, said in a statement. "They have created extraordinary new platforms for commerce and innovation, fulfilling the remarkable potential of the internet. They have empowered individuals across the globe to create strong communities and share news, humor, hopes and dreams. We are beyond thrilled to welcome both Facebook and Twitter as CTA members."
Facebook and Twitter are huge additions for CTA, but they certainly aren’t the first social media organizations to join. That said, they certainly are the largest social organizations to sign on as CTA members. And CTA said the additions reinforce the association’s “position as representing the full breadth of the consumer technology industry.”
