Facebook Appears in iPhone Ad, Outlines Mobile Plans
The world’s hottest Internet company made the move into mobile Thursday, when Facebook released a platform to operators to create better versions of the social network for mobile phones. Meanwhile, a new ad for the iPhone debuted Wednesday, touting the device’s Facebook functionality.
Meanwhile, IDG News Service reported this week that Vodafone will make use of the technology, and plans to release it throughout Europe in the near future. Vodafone is a partner in Verizon Wireless.
No timetable was given an arrival in the United States for the Vodafone version. Facebook has a stripped-down mobile version that works on some phones, but does not include the service’s applications or most major features. The company said under ten percent of its 64 million users use Facebook Mobile currently.
