FCC Still Mum on XM/Sirius Decision
The Federal Communications Commission has remained silent on whether or not it plans to approve the merger between XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, and has given no indications about when a decision is forthcoming.
According to the radio industry magazine RadioInk, FCC Chairman Kevin Martin would not comment to reporters on the progress of the merger, but did say that no vote has been scheduled on it at the FCC’s next public meeting. Martin added that the FCC’s decision was not in any way dependent on the Department of Justice’s decision.
The DOJ’s Antitrust Division approved the merger March 25.
