firedog Launches Contest to Support Firefighters
In response to recent study from the U.S. Fire Administration that finds many firehouses across the U.S. lack funding for essential firefighting tools, Circuit City’s firedog division is launching Across America, a contest to raise $650,000 that will be used to buy much-needed equipment for the nation’s firehouses.
Circuit City is asking people to visit www.firedog.com to describe how their local firehouse has contributed to the community. Ten firehouses will win $20,000 for equipment and will be eligible to win a grand prize of $100,000. The authors of the winning essays will win a $10,000 tech makeover.
Among the greatest needs are communications equipment, protective gear and training. The online essay contest, designed to call attention to the firefighters’ long list of needs, invites Americans to nominate their local firefighters for outstanding service and the chance to win $550,000 in much needed donations.
