Focal, a leading French speaker and headphone manufacturer, is ending its 40th anniversary celebration with a bang. After the scattered launch of the “40th Collection” throughout 2019, Focal has now released the limited-edition Symphonie 40th case for a cool £13,999 (about $18,000). The luxury case comes with two pairs of iconic Focal headphones, the Utopia and Stellia, as well as amplifier and DAC Arche and Questyle player QPM.
The Symphonie 40th case was meant to house two listening options for users in one convenient and vintage-style place. The Utopia open-back headphones paired with the Focal Arche DAC & amplifier provide comfortable, at-home listening while the Stellia closed-back headphones and Questyle QPM allow listeners to take their music on the go. But users can mix and match as they please with the included cables: a 4-pin Litz XLR cable to connect Utopia and Arche; a 3/16” (4.4mm) jack adapter to link Stellia and the QPM player; a mini jack adaptor for Utopia and the player; and an XLR cable for Stellia and Arche. That way, both pairs of headphones can be combined with each electronic solution.
This exclusive case is wrapped in Macassar ebony veneer wood, coated with a satin finish. The inside is lined with soft, beige microfiber, while the outside is adorned with metal clasps and side handles. There didn’t seem to be any information on the weight of this thing, but Focal says you can “take your headphones with you wherever you go in total safety,” so it’s probably safe to assume the case is at least somewhat portable.
