Focal Launches Its First Ever DAC and Amplifier, Arche
The recognized global leader for high fidelity products is taking a dive into its first ever DAC and Amplifier. Designed and manufactured in France, Focal’s Arche offers an ultra-high-end experience for audiophiles and amateurs alike.
Arche combines a digital-analog converter with two class-A amplification modes designed specifically with headphones in mind. Included with every set of Focal headphones are carefully constructed presets that ensure the best possible acoustic combinations.
The dual mono construction reduces crosstalk and the two premium digital-analog balanced AK 4490 converters take care of the left and right-hand channels. These converters feature an extended operating range, found in many high-end electronics, to ensure pure and perfect reproduction of high-resolution audio formats.
A dedicated power supply drives the dual mono design, and operates at pure class-A, the ultimate in High-Fidelity.
Users will have the option between two amplifier types: a pure current amplifier or a hybrid integrated amplifier. The first option provides 0.1 Ohm resulting in major listening dynamics while the hybrid is similar to a power amplifier in that it benefits from higher output impedance. With the latter, tonal balance slightly favors the bass, mid range and extreme treble register. With two amplifiers, every users gets specialized amplification to suit their specific headphones and preferences.
To ensure Arche’s presence in Focal products going forward, the firmware will be updated with every new release.
For accessing and storing purposes, Arche comes with an aluminum headphone mount inspired by the brand’s logo. The front panels allow for two pairs of headphones to be connected at once. Inputs, volume control and output levels can all be optimized based on the headphones connected.
Arche will be available in March on Focal.com/US or Amazon.com, starting at $2500.
